4 Marquis Who ’ s Who Insight | Third Edition Elizabeth “Betsy” Franz Albert Investor, Environmentalist Mettawa, IL www.betsyfranzalbert.com What are two key behaviors/personality traits that allow you to be effective in your role? Perhaps more than anything, I am a sum of my ancestries. I wonder if it’s because I’m left-handed and right-brained because that shows my creative side. A long time ago, my dad offered me a seat on the New York Stock Exchange. It wasn’t because he want- ed it for me; he hated New York, but he figured that I was the kind of kid that could go on and live there. I turned it down wisely. My dad knew I was interested in the stock market — I’m a stock picker and I think it’s a gift. What new innovations or technologies do you feel will shape the future of your industry? I think that technology is helpful for investing, but I don’t personally use it that way. I have to know enough about a company before I invest in it. What excites you the most about your industry? The excitement of the stock market doesn’t really bother me and I’m glad that it doesn’t. It must be terrifying for people who are concerned with the ups and downs of the market. Walter Louis Bohorfoush Jr. Computer Scientist U.S. Department of Transportation Beltsville, MD How have you navigated disruptions in your industry to remain a top professional? I try and go with the flow. IT changes all the time. As General Shinseki said, “If you dislike change, you’re going to dislike irrelevance even more.” What are two key behaviors/personality traits that allow you to be effective in your role? My ability to analyze problems (aka opportunities to excel) and work with all types of people. What is the most important issue/challenge you are dealing with in your industry right now? Resources, actual human resources. There aren’t enough people to successfully meet the challenges we face as an industry. How do you feel your industry has changed/evolved over time? We have gone from specific point solutions to very diverse solutions across multiple media and boundaries. What new innovations or technologies do you feel will shape the future of your industry? Machine learning, robotic process automation, and artificial intelligence — all of which are interrelated. What excites you the most about your industry? The constant change and adaptation to change. Getting IT to perform to meet customers’ needs and expectations.
