Alexandre Lacasse, MD, FACP, MSc Internal Medicine Residency Program Director, Department Chair SSMHealth St. Mary’s Hospital, St. Louis St. Louis, MO Supported by more than 15 years of experience inmedicine, Dr. Lacasse has garnered a laudable reputation with SSM Saint Mary’s Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri, as an internal medicine residency program core faculty member and associate director of the medicine clinic since 2009. From 2017 to 2019, he was the associate program director of the residency program and educational director of infectious disease. Since 2019, he has served as the program director of the residency program, chair of the internal medicine department, medical director of infection prevention, and SSM system sepsis physician lead. Alongside these professional pursuits, Dr. Lacasse has served on many hospital committees and as an infectious disease consultant since 2009. To prepare for his career, Dr. Lacasse pursued a formal educationat theUniversityofMontreal inMontreal, Canada, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry in 1995. He then received a Master of Science in biomedical sciences in 1998. Relocating to Hungary, he attended the University of Debrecen Medical School before moving to the Netherlands Antilles, where he earned a Doctor of Medicine from the SABA University School of Medicine in 2003. Moving to Missouri, he completed a residency in internal medicine in 2006, escalating to chief resident until 2007. From2007 to 2009, Dr. Lacasse undertook an infectious diseases fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee. Well regarded for his contributions to the field, Dr. Lacasse has accrued numerous accolades since the inception of his career. In 2019, he earned the Exceptional Performance for Commitment Award from SSM Saint Mary’s Hospital, having previously been acknowledged as the Attending Physician Teacher of the Year by the IM Residency Program in 2017. That same year, he was recognized for Outstanding Teaching in Family Medicine by Saint Louis University. Furthermore, Dr. Lacasse was previously named Attending Physician of the Year twice in 2010 and 2013 by the IM residents of SSM Saint Mary’s Hospital.
