14 Marquis Who ’ s Who Insight | Third Edition Jayme A. Oliveira Filho, DDS, FAGD, FICOI Dentist and Owner Alencar Family Dentistry Chesapeake, VA www.alencarfamilydentistry.com What is the most important issue/ challenge you are dealing with in your industry right now? We need to demonstrate that it’s safe for patients to have dental treat- ment. Everyone is concerned about COVID-19, especially in dentistry, but I think that if we do a good job explaining the precautions we are taking, patients will feel safe. We are cognizant about infection pro- tection and because of COVID-19, we have upgraded our biosafety protocols. What new innovations or technol- ogies do you feel will shape the future of your industry? I foresee that instead of doing an extraction and placing a synthetic implant, we will implant a germinal bud of a tooth and it will grow. It’s just a matter of investing in the tech- nology because the science exists. Robert James Safransky, PhD Academic Administrator (Retired) Pinellas Park, FL How do you feel your industry has changed/evolved over time? When I began teaching in 1960, we did not have electronics. In order to prepare materials for students, we had to type out sheets and make photocopies. Now, we have whiteboards, and since we’ve been contending with the pandemic, students have laptops that provide them with a classroom-type environment. What excites you the most about your industry? I always wanted to influence my students to respect the foundations of our country and constitution, and even though we haven’t done every- thing perfectly, the United States has the best government that man has created in thousands of years. Our students have to become involved, and as a teacher, I have tried to make these topics interesting. Revolon M. Schmidt Mental Health Counselor Revolon Schmidt, LCPC Columbia, MD www.whoswhoofprofessionalwomen.com/ listee-features/revolon-schmidt What are two key behavior/personality traits that allow you to be effective in your role? The ability to listen and not be judg- mental. People can tell if you’re being sincere and reacting sincerely to what they’re saying. What is the most important issue/challenge you are dealing with in your industry right now? Helping people manage the stress of COVID-19 and offering counseling virtually. I miss seeing clients in person because I’m able to get more information when I see an entire body rather than just a face. What excites you the most about your industry? Helping people find their inner power because some have lost it and some are broken, so to help them regain power, strength and the energy to live their lives is so important.
