New York, NY www.pbnlaw.com/attorneys/sigmond-carol Supported by more than 40 years’ professional experience, Ms. Sigmond is an attorney and the chair of the construction law team of Porzio Bromberg & Newman, P.C. Prior to these appointments, she was a member of the law firm Cohen Seglias Pallas Greenhall & Furman PC and acted as a lawyer in private practice. Earlier in her career, Ms. Sigmond found success with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority as an assistant general counsel from 1978 to 1985. Ms. Sigmond pursued an education at Grinnell College in Iowa and earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1972. Three years later, she earned a JD from the Columbus Law School of the Catholic University of America. She is admitted to practice law in the commonwealth of Virginia, the District of Columbia, and the states of Maryland andNewYork. She has handled cases in all four jurisdictions and in many District Courts, including the Southern and Eastern District of New York together with appeals in the Courts of Appeals including the Second Circuit. Ms. Sigmond is aligned with the New York County Law- yers Association (NYCLA), for which she served as president from 2015 to 2017, and the New York State Bar Association, for which she is a vice president of the First Judicial District. She also maintains membership with the American Bar Association, for which she served in the House of Delegates from 2014 to 2017. In addition, Ms. Sigmond is a member of the Construction Law Society of America and is involved with the New York Building Congress and the General Contractors Association. Finally, she is a member of the legal advisor committee of the New York City Crime Commission. How have you navigated disruptions in your industry to remain a top professional? I keep an eye on trends, read relevant industry and legal publications, and take one step at a time. I have always tried to visualize the future and anticipate the journey. What are two key behaviors/personality traits that allow you to be effective in your role? Thinking outside of the box and not being afraid to chal- lenge conventional thinking.
