Insight_4th Edition

Fourth Edition | Marquis Who’s Who Insight 9 I love to take my time to understand fascinating or interesting things, and even if something is mind-boggling – our world is many times – the respect for differences is really the other side of the coin of curiosity. What is the most important issue/challenge you are dealing with in your industry? The most important thing is to understand where the cutting-edge research is and how to access it within some of the frameworks our industry has built over the years. Some of the issues are volatile potentially and we have seen this in Washington, the capital of the United States, with the transition on the presidential level. The challenge is to channel innovative ideas like Black Lives Matter and Peace Equals Power to researchers across all international borders, because right now our focus cannot be localized — it must be international. Here again, I see optimism. The pandemic gives us an evolved view of time, both by compressing time to see the very distant past and to anticipate scientific breakthroughs via global cooperation. How do you feel your industry has changed/evolved? I think we have become more inclusive of all ideas. In history, we are looking at what has been stated and we are taking in all points of view. Black Lives Matter is very ascendant in history and art, as are climate change and connections among species. What innovations or technologies do you feel will shape the future of your industry? I believe innovations will have a closer connection with nature. We need the human species to connect with nature in all of its manifestations. Already history and art know the natural world is who we are. Sustainability is something we have had now for many years and it is a threshold most of us have almost gone beyond. We understand what it is to drink clean water. We understand what it is to have too many chemicals in our food. What excites you the most about your industry? Putting together disparate ideas and having those ideas formulate into something that is of benefit to all — our universe. I love to do this! I feel much gratitude for the many wise teachers I have had and am privileged to learn from. Opportunities to read broadly and the freedom to think abstractly are hallmarks of history and art. As is figuring out the positives for our planet, our cosmos and humanity, however complex the task. History and art open hearts and minds! The two disciplines intertwined teach us the beauty of life!
