In order to remain aware of changes in an ever-evolving field, Mr. Roeder serves as the president-elect of the Nebraska Funeral Directors Association and is an active member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Nebraska. Devoted to those less fortunate, Mr. Roeder also contributes during his spare time as a volunteer with his local church. In light of Roeder Mortuary’s outstanding work within the community, the business has been honored several times, having accepted the Best Funeral Home Award several years in a row. Looking toward the future, Mr. Roeder intends to improve upon services offered by Roeder Mortuary and expand the company as a whole. How have you navigated disruptions in your industry to remain a top professional? I would equate that to the mentors I had coming into this — both family in the industry and the team that I have. What is the most important issue/challenge you are dealing with in your industry? The COVID-19 situation is kind of opening up and getting a lot easier tomanage. Other than that, the only challenge is determining what each family wants. What are two key behaviors/personality traits that allow you to be effective in your role? Empathy, caring and family tradition. My family has been in this business since 1912. What innovations or technologies do you feel will shape the future of your industry? Live streaming has become a big part of funeral services. This helps with people who are at a distance geographically and it also allows for physical distancing, which helps to protect people from COVID-19. I think that live streaming in this business will absolutely continue moving forward.
