A graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in biology and chemistry, and he earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1977. Eminently qualified in his field, Dr. Jolly is a diplomate of the American Board of Special Care Dentistry. Following his residency in hospital dentistry at the VA Medical Center of Leavenworth, Kansas, Dr. Jolly operated his own private practice in Newcastle, Wyoming, in 1979. He subsequently began teaching at the University of Missouri and accepted a position as the chief of restorative dentistry at Truman Medical Center. Furthermore, Dr. Jolly became the director of dental oncology at Trinity Lutheran Hospital in 1982, and he joined the faculty at The Ohio State University in 1987, where he served as the director of the general practice residency program and rose from an associate professor to a full professor by 1993. He left The Ohio State University in 2008 and served as the president of ImmediaDent of Ohio until 2013. Since 2019, Dr. Jolly has excelled as the chief forensic odontologist for Franklin and Licking Counties, Ohio, in addition to offering his knowledge as an expert witness and legal consultant for numerous trials. He is a frequent speaker on various topics in forensic and medical dentistry and the author of several dental textbooks and handbooks, including the “OSU Manual of Hospital Dentistry,” “Nursing Home Dentistry” and “Hospital Dentistry.” Dedicated to providing quality dental care to destitute communities, he maintains involvement as the director of the Honduras Clinic Project, and he is a former board director of the Easter Seal Society. Dr. Jolly held administrative leadership roles at various medical facilities and organizations, including terms of service as the president of the American Board of Special Care Dentistry and the American Association of Hospital Dentists. In recognition of his outstanding career, he is the namesake of a scholarship fund at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Furthermore, Dr. Jolly has been presented with an Ohio Dental Association Humanitarian Award, as well as multiple Alumni Achievement Awards from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
