INSIGHT MARQUIS WHO′S WHO SIXTH EDITION SPRING 2024 it’s with data insights, optimization, or digitalization and processes. We want to ensure we’re using the right software, code or process that is optimal for the business. Sometimes, we’ll look at opportunities to determine if it needs to be customized software or a commercial, off-the-shelf product. We look at the cost and the benefits and ask what the basic needs of the business are and how we help them to do that. One of our core values is ensuring we’re on the leading edge – not the cutting edge. We want to use leading-edge technologies in ways that are secure and cost-effective for the organization. What is the most important issue/challenge you are dealing with in your industry? Many businesses’ challenges are understanding where they are and where they’re going, and that’s where data insight comes into play. I was talking to a large corporation, and they wondered if they had the right data to see trends. You begin talking to them and recognize that they have gaps in their data. The people entering the data didn’t want to enter all the data because they either did not have to or the software they were using was so cumbersome that they could not get it done. To me, it’s like peeling back an onion – when you’re peeling the onion, you find there is one goal, but how will we get there? Then, you find challenges that a corporation might have because of legacy systems or processes that aren’t optimized, and they cannot get the information they want because they haven’t planned to do it correctly. Often, we’ll perform a technology needs assessment. Sometimes, they’ll never have the right data because they don’t own it. That’s where you can purchase data from other parties and then combine that data to provide more insight. What innovations or technologies do you feel will shape the future of your industry? Artificial intelligence is definitely shaping the industry, but it’s something that’s been around for a long time, and people didn’t realize what it was. Siri and Alexa are large language models that have been around, and people accepted them. It wasn’t until ChatGPT that some people discovered AI. There was machine learning, but you had data scientists creating and training these models because they’re experts. You have someone typing prompts into ChatGPT and getting cool results, but you don’t know if the model is correct or if there are biases within the data. Some people are using AI in a good way as a tool for efficiency, but if you’re inputting data from clients, you must be very careful. You shouldn’t input intellectual property or proprietary information because that data will be collected by the AI tool. What excites you the most about your industry? I love working with clients, making their lives easier and watching their companies grow. If you look at our company, you’ll see great samples of it. It’s fun to see a challenge but not a company struggling. It’s fun to understand what they need, implement changes and then see the results.
