MICHAEL-ANGELO JAMES, EDD Mayor City of Waycross Waycross, GA https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=_Tm1b623qZY Over the course of his extensive career, Dr. James has taught and preached in many capacities, and he has excelled as the mayor of the city of Waycross, Georgia, since 2020. Additionally, he has served as a professor of sociology at Coastal Pines Technical College since 2019, a bishop at Emmanuel’s International Cathedral of the Holy Spirit since 1990, and the chancellor at Emmanuel’s Bible College since 2009. Encouraged by the love and support of his parents, who taught him the value of giving back to his community, Dr. James sought to delve into theology and education. As a student of Troy State University, he received a Bachelor of Science in education in 1988. After working in his field for several years, he obtained a Master of Education in secondary education and teaching from Valdosta State University in 1993 and a Doctor of Christian Education from the Truth Bible College in 1999. In his civic-minded endeavors, Dr. James has lent his expertise to his District Toastmasters Club, where he was a program quality trainer of District 14 from 2020 to 2021. He was also a coach of the Jonesboro Toastmasters from 2020 to 2021, the director of Area H83 from 2019 to 2020 and Area H82 from 2020 to 2021. Likewise, he served as a charter president, mentor and member of the President’s Distinguished Swamp Talk from 2019 to 2020. Dr. James has authored several books, including “Just Because God Said It: A Journal of Prophetic Predictions and Pronouncements,” which he published in 2010. He also penned “Leader, Can You Stand the Test” in 2004 and “Trusting God to Supply Your Need: Perspectives on Exercising Your Faith” in 2003. Dr. James earned the Jack Williams Community Service Award from the Waycross Chamber of Commerce, the 2020 Distinguished Toastmaster Award, the 2019 Distinguished Kiwanian Award and the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Ted Harris Human and Spiritual Values Award. What excites me most about being mayor is watching the community come together as a family to get things done.
