20 Sixth Edition Marquis Who’s Who INSIGHT SHARON BAKER- BOYKIN, ESQ. Attorney, Author, Speaker, Legal Life Coach Power of 1 Decision, LLC Atlanta, GA https://www.legallifecoachsharonbaker.com/ How have you navigated disruptions in your industry to remain a top professional? I consider myself a lifelong learner – you never know what will help you learn something new to help others. I pride myself on using common language; I don't try to impress people with my degree and career. I really want to connect with them so they understand and feel comfortable asking me questions. How do you feel your industry has changed/evolved? The law is constantly changing. We elect politicians yearly at almost every level. Every term, the laws change. People need to be aware that change impacts what they can do. What excites you the most about your industry? It's about wanting to be of service to others. CYNTHIA BLODGETT-GRIFFIN, PHD Online Graduate Distance Education Professor, Course Designer Blodgett Learning Systems Lincoln, NE https://www.cynthiablodgett-griffin.com/ How have you navigated disruptions in your industry to remain a top professional? I try to be flexible, and I am gentle with my expectations for myself. I am attentive to my own needs, which may sound greedy, but it’s not — if I don’t take care of myself, I can’t be present for my students. What are two key behaviors/personality traits that allow you to be effective in your role? I have empathy for my students, and I listen to others. There is a Community of Inquiry theory I follow that talks about teacher, social and cognitive presence. I like to maintain a strong teacher presence and remain present for my students. What excites you the most about your industry? There is a lot of rapid change going on since we keep adding technology to an already technological mode of education. So, I’m helping the students navigate the new, open-digital aspect of their education. PETER W. CURRERI, MD Health Facility Administrator (Retired) Strategem of Alabama Inc. Spanish Fort, AL www.24-7pressrelease.com/ press-release/481541 How do you feel your industry has changed/evolved? I started at The University of Texas at San Antonio as an assistant professor and later went to the University of Washington in Seattle as an associate professor and Cornell University as a full professor. I think what changed over that period of time was the lack of interest in research. People tended to concentrate more on clinical teaching, probably because of the increased demand for clinical work as departments grew. What excites you the most about your industry? I enjoyed teaching medical students and residents and working with my colleagues in research and clinical services. I also enjoyed segmenting a department of surgery into eight divisions and building them into independent entities.
