My desire to help others and my nature as a teacher. I have consultative talks with my customers, so we can understand their needs and the products they buy. What is the most important issue/ challenge you are dealing with in your industry? The challenge right now – primarily in Florida – is market availability and affordability. How do you feel your industry has changed/evolved? In the past, customers would trust insurance agents, but now, with so many cases of insurance fraud, they expect agents to inflate or exaggerate costs. Honest agents are paying for the wrongful actions of others, which is frustrating. IVONNE M. I’ve been fortunate to have the support of people who champion me. I often needed to work with people who didn't share my vision or respect my directives – I had to build rapport with them. Despite challenges, I persevered and quickly built sustainable relationships, earning a reputation for success, hard work and dedication. Most people who meet me read about my successful contributions, making navigating the highs and lows easier. What excites you the most about your industry? I'm intrigued by numbers, problem-solving and navigating systems to improve customer relationships. My goal has always been to ensure our improvements exceed expectations and provide high customer satisfaction. JEANNE M. VICTOR Executive Director New York City Equal Employment Practices Commission Moorestown, NJ https://www.linkedin.com/in/ jeanne-victor-2853888a/ What are two key behaviors/personality traits that allow you to be effective in your role? We should be good listeners to understand where people are coming from. Then, you consider how the rules, regulations or laws might apply. How do you feel your industry has changed/evolved? Fifty years ago, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) was in its infancy. Once EEO and affirmative action hit their peak, it made a difference in how women and people of color were treated. As the program matured, so did the country. What innovations or technologies do you feel will shape the future of your industry? Artificial intelligence (AI) will play a huge role in that there are jobs that AI will definitely take over. Many of the jobs that will be susceptible to AI are currently being performed by women and people of color.
