Sixth Edition Marquis Who’s Who INSIGHT 15 INSIGHT MARQUIS WHO′S WHO SIXTH EDITION SUMMER 2024 toward a better future. Serving as a testament to her professionalism and success in the field, impressively, Dr. Pamala was selected as a featured presenter by London’s British School of Excellence, a premier international provider of professional development, particularly etiquette, manners, and life skills training. What is the most important issue/challenge you are dealing with in your industry? Getting people to understand that everyone needs E/ PDT. Also, the next generation needs to be prepared. Eighty-five percent of 2023 graduating Gen Z-ers indicated not feeling prepared for the workplace, and half said they have never received any soft skills training. They need E/PDT. But people don't want to pay for it because they don't understand its value. I don't know why it's not in every organization's budget to help staff improve to be better employees and offer top-notch customer service. How do you feel your industry has changed/evolved? It's evolved significantly. Think about how etiquette was originally portrayed when only royalty or nobility was believed to have etiquette, then to the era of Queen Elizabeth, which really formalized etiquette. Now, the digital age has massively evolved etiquette around the world. In former years, people believed etiquette was only for the wealthy. Now, we understand that etiquette can be taught and learned; it's not a trait you are born with. You can watch somebody with good social skills and imitate them or undergo formal training to develop these skills. I've actually researched how etiquette has changed over the years, from slavery when people were killed if they didn't behave according to the slave codes, through the debutante and finishing schools’ movement, to now practically anything goes. It all stems from an individual's personal code of conduct, character, ethics, and morals. What innovations or technologies do you feel will shape the future of your industry? AI technology removes the human element with learning by simulation and automation. It's interesting, but it can’t replace the human connection of people-to-people interaction. I think we're in an era where people realize that we need to try something different and maybe consider returning to the former “old school” ways of etiquette. What excites you the most about your industry? To know that I’m a part of this movement that impacts the lives of others and that I’m aligned with my purpose and passion to help others change. I don't take that lightly. Transformational coaching and training are my life's work. But it is also my God-given gift, talent, and ability. I love what I do. It's in me! It's authentic because I've lived it. I'm relatable because I help people overcome things I've overcome. It's been tested, tried, and proven, and I was my first student.
