Seventh Edition Marquis Who’s Who INSIGHT 19 AMBER E. WINDSOR, PHD Counselor Inspira Health Network Glassboro, NJ https://whoswhoofprofessionalwomen.com/amber-windsor/ What are two key behaviors/personality traits that allow you to be effective in your role? Being empathetic and my life experiences. I’ve had so many different experiences in life that, without them, I wouldn’t be who I am today. I’ve had people ask, “If you could go back in your past and change something, what would you change?” I wouldn’t change a thing. I wouldn’t be who I am today if I didn’t have those experiences. How do you feel your industry has changed/evolved? One of the ways that changed is how we interact with the kids. Before, we were always pushing kids to finish school and go to college. Now, we’re trying to do more self-care and mental health awareness. When the kids come to the hospital, we tell them, “This is how you have coping skills, and you want to do mindfulness and self-care.” What innovations or technologies do you feel will shape the future of your industry? There are great mindfulness apps that people can download on their phones, which help in meditation, counting their breathing, and being more aware of their surroundings. What excites you the most about your industry? There’s a chance to help children with mental health awareness. If I work in the adult unit, the adults are set in their ways – all they want is their medication, and they want to do what they need to do to be discharged. With the kids, I can make an impact before they’re set in their ways. TETSUFUMI UEDA, PHD Professor Emeritus, Neurochemist (Retired) University of Michigan Ann Arbor, MI medicine.umich.edu/dept/mni/tetsufumi-ueda-phd How have you navigated disruptions in your industry to remain a top professional? There have been events that have disrupted and discouraged me, but overall, things turned out well, so I am happy about that. I feel lucky that I have been able to contribute to human life. What are two key behaviors/personality traits that allow you to be effective in your role? Patience helped me in my research. I’m also never too hard on others, as I don’t want to do or say anything that might hurt them. I try to be kind and make suggestions based on my opinions, but I don’t force them on others. What is the most important issue/challenge you are dealing with in your industry? I think people would like to understand what Alzheimer’s disease is and discover new drugs. The major issue is that the elderly population has been increasing, and the disease may reach a large percentage of human beings in the world soon as the elderly population continues to increase. What innovations or technologies do you feel will shape the future of your industry? Being able to non-invasively observe glucose transformation in the brain. What excites you the most about your industry? Being able to contribute by doing research excites me the most, though I have not been able to do that since I retired. I like to discover new things in collaboration with others, and I would like to publish more papers in the future.
