20 Seventh Edition Marquis Who’s Who INSIGHT KELLI J. BACK Administrator The Village at Skyline Pines Rapid City, SD https://www.linkedin.com/in/ kelli-back-8a043945/ How have you navigated disruptions in your industry to remain a top professional? I put myself in place to be accessible to my staff, residents and their families 24/7. All my staff and families have my cell phone number to feel supported. If I have a resident, staff or family member who needs an immediate decision, they don’t have to wait. It’s important to have a personal bond with those families. One of our mottos is, “We do what’s right, and we lead from the heart.” What excites you the most about your industry? What keeps me going each day is knowing there’s a resident who’s going to smile, a resident who isn’t hungry, and a resident who is in a safe, secure place. It warms my heart to be able to do what I do every single day! SHARON BAKER- BOYKIN, ESQ. Attorney, Author, Speaker, Legal Life Coach Power of 1 Decision, LLC Atlanta, GA https://www.legallifecoachsharonbaker.com/ How have you navigated disruptions in your industry to remain a top professional? I consider myself a lifelong learner – you never know what will help you learn something new to help others. I pride myself on using common language; I don't try to impress people with my degree and career. I really want to connect with them so they understand and feel comfortable asking me questions. How do you feel your industry has changed/evolved? The law is constantly changing. We elect politicians yearly at almost every level. Every term, the laws change. People need to be aware that change impacts what they can do. What excites you the most about your industry? It's about wanting to be of service to others. CYNTHIA BLODGETT-GRIFFIN, PHD Online Graduate Distance Education Professor, Course Designer Blodgett Learning Systems Lincoln, NE https://www.cynthiablodgett-griffin.com/ How have you navigated disruptions in your industry to remain a top professional? I try to be flexible, and I am gentle with my expectations for myself. I am attentive to my own needs, which may sound greedy, but it’s not — if I don’t take care of myself, I can’t be present for my students. What are two key behaviors/personality traits that allow you to be effective in your role? I have empathy for my students, and I listen to others. There is a Community of Inquiry theory I follow that talks about teacher, social and cognitive presence. I like to maintain a strong teacher presence and remain present for my students. What excites you the most about your industry? There is a lot of rapid change going on since we keep adding technology to an already technological mode of education. So, I’m helping the students navigate the new, open-digital aspect of their education.
