Bravo, distinguished for her expertise in the health care industry, has been instrumental in preparing future leaders as a clinical assistant professor at her alma mater, The University of Texas at Arlington, since 2018. In this position, she helps her students explore the burgeoning topic of health policy, legal aspects of nursing, informatics and artificial intelligence, a subject on which she has written a book chapter. Active in higher education for over 15 years, she started her foray into education at Tarrant County College as a clinical instructor from 2000 to 2001 and then at Dallas’ El Centro as a lecturer in medical-surgical nursing from 2001 to 2002. During her non-teaching years, Dr. Bravo worked in the business and managerial side of nursing as a dialysis administrator. She created the Dialysis at Home company, the first of its kind in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, which gave her business and managerial insights into the nursing needs of the community. From 2007 to 2013, she helped resurrect the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program at Mountain View College in Dallas as a faculty member. Noting directional changes in hiring at local hospitals from ADN students to BSN students, from 2013 to 2018, she traded the associate degree learning platform for a Bachelor of Science educational program at West Coast University in Dallas. Dr. Bravo received a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Baylor University, allowing her to become a registered nurse. From here, she received a Master of Science in nursing with a focus on nursing administration from The University of Texas at Arlington and a Doctor of Philosophy in general psychology with a focus on integrating technology, learning and psychology from Grand Canyon University. She is a member of the National League for Nursing, the American Nurses Association and the American Psychological Association. Dr. Bravo volunteers at The University of Texas in endeavors such as “Day in a Life,” a poverty simulation that engages students in the intricacies of poverty in the Fort Worth area.
